runback is a skill-based competition app for friend groups. There are two ways to use it. In Compete mode, you and a friend each put an entry into a shared pot before a real game like pool, golf, darts, or FIFA. The app holds the pot and credits it to the winner once you both confirm the result. In Commit mode, you put an entry on a goal of your own, like a workout streak or a deadline. Hit the goal and your entry comes back. Miss it and a friend you picked collects it. Both modes settle the money before anyone plays, so nobody can flake after.

No. runback is a skill-based competition app, not a betting app and not a sportsbook. Money only moves between friends who play a real skill game together, and the winner is decided by how you play, not by odds or chance. There is nothing to gamble on here: you cannot put money on sports teams, on other people's matches, or on any event you are not personally playing in, because skill contests between the players themselves are the whole product. In Commit mode there is no opponent at all. You fund your own goal and you are never paid for succeeding. Your entry is simply returned. runback is skill-based competition for friend groups, not a sportsbook and not a prediction market.

The pot is both entries held together by runback from the moment a duel is accepted until the result is confirmed. Each player funds an equal entry before the game starts. Nobody sends cash to a friend directly and nobody can back out once the pot is funded. After the game, both players confirm who won, with a photo as proof. The full pot is then credited to the winner and the result is saved to your rivalry record. If a duel expires or the result stays contested, each player gets their own entry back. The money question is settled before anyone knows who is going to win.

The difference is who you are up against. Compete is a duel with a friend: both of you fund an entry, you play a real skill game in person, and the winner takes the pot. Commit is a deal with yourself: you fund an entry on your own goal, and a friend or your crew acts as the witness. Hit the goal and your entry is returned. Miss it and the friend you picked collects it. You never earn more than your entry back in Commit, which is what keeps it a commitment tool rather than a contest.

Nothing gets awarded on a dispute. If players cannot agree on who won, the pot is frozen for a short proof window and then every player gets their own entry back. runback never picks a winner and no pot is ever handed out on a contested result. Honesty is handled separately, through reputation: a claim that the photo contradicts, or ghosting after a duel, earns a strike. Strikes are for lying or ghosting, never for losing, and they limit what that account can do next. Losing a duel costs you nothing except the rematch.

runback is free to use. The only cost is the pot itself: the entry you put up and win or lose when you challenge your friends. runback takes no rake and no fees. Every dollar in the pot goes straight to the winner, never to us. There are no subscriptions and nothing to pay to join.

runback is opening in early access from the waitlist. Signing up reserves your spot, and anyone you send your link to who signs up gets early access too, so you and your friends get in together. In fighting games, calling for the runback means demanding an instant rematch after a loss. That instinct is the whole app: every result ends with a run it back button that fires the same duel again. runback the app is not related to the Runback video game on Steam. It is a skill-based competition app for friend groups, coming to iOS and Android.
